Camping with Gogol Bordello
I had the opportunity to see Gogol Bordello (up close and personal) at the Vermont NEKMF (Northeast Kingdom Music Festival). I took these shots as practice for event/concert photography, which many photogs would say is *the* most difficult type of shooting - maybe besides underwater photography. Even though I still need practice, and I do not (yet) own the right lenses for this type of environment...I don't think the images turned out that bad. Click on the photo above for a sample of some of the better shots.

Very nice photos. Looks like it was a fun show too.
How where the rest of the the bands in the lineup?
There was some interesting folk/bluegrass stuff right when we got there, but we showed up pretty much right before Gogol went on, so we only saw a little bit.
Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra was interesting (went on after Gogol/11:30pm), sort of a trancy dub thing...and they played until freakin' 4am!
We went to bed well before they ended. Crazy stuff.
These pictures came out pretty good. I was at this show too and I know how wild it was up front. I didn't even dare bring my camera in. You are brave. I've been working on taking pictures at punk shows. It is a real challenge.
I am impressed! These pictures look great... How was the camping...
I love the costumes/outfits, the woman in white (in particular)! I will have to be sure not to miss it the next time that they come to Boston. Good thing I have friends like you guys to keep me informed!
Thanks jennifer/emma,
I was definitely nervous about have my new 20D up in the front. Luckily me and the camera survived. Camping, on the other hand...almost killed me. Lots of noise (babies/music) and very, very, very cold weather. Gogol was so good though, I'd gladly do it again.
emma, you definitely need to go to the next Gogol show. I'll be sure to keep you posted.
